Joseph Washington, Chief Executive Officer
Singer, songwriter, music producer, and playwright are just a few of the titles that Joseph Washington the CEO of MBUE, LLC holds. Joseph started singing in church at the age of 8 and continued singing throughout high school. In 1989 after graduating from high school Joseph enlisted in the Army where he also sang in the church choir on the Army post. Later when he was stationed in Kuwait during “Operation Desert Storm” Joseph began composing songs and poems to deal with the many months he was away from home. In August 1992, Joseph enrolled in Texas Southern University (TSU) and was part of a quartet known as “Four of a Kind” and because of the groups desire to perform original material Joseph began his songwriting career. It was during his time at TSU that Joseph cultivated his skill and passion for songwriting. Joseph’s ability to write songs while he was going to TSU led him to receive an academic scholarship in 1998 from Houston’s Mayor Lee P. Brown for a video/music project he created. Joseph continued his songwriting talents after graduating from TSU and several of his songs have been featured in plays by local playwrights. In 1999 with the help of some friends Joseph produced his first CD “In Their Shoes” which was the impetus for starting MBUE, LLC and the In Their Shoes Foundation. Professionally, Joseph has held management positions working for Dr. Pepper and Budweiser. Joseph has also worked in news & production at Fox Sports Network and KPRC Channel 2 an NBC affiliate in Houston. Joseph has an ASCAP membership for Songwriting and a B.A. in Radio and Television Communications.
